"I will play an important role in 2027": Karim Bouamrane claims that Olivier Faure is too "associated" with Jean-Luc Mélenchon

"I will play an important role in 2027": Karim Bouamrane claims that Olivier Faure is too "associated" with Jean-Luc Mélenchon
The Socialist mayor of Saint-Ouen, Karim Bouamrane, once again criticized the First Secretary of the Socialist Party on Wednesday on BFMTV, saying "he is too closely associated with Jean-Luc Mélenchon."

Presidential ambitions for Karim Bouamrane, Socialist Party mayor of Saint-Ouen? On BFMTV this Wednesday, April 30, he indicated that he "will play an important role in the 2027 election." "And that includes the 2026 elections in the various cities, and my municipality of Saint-Ouen," the elected official continued on our channel. "Anyone who says 'I'm a candidate' today is completely off the mark," he said.

Without specifying what role he wishes to fulfill, the mayor of Saint-Ouen criticized two major figures of the left: Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Olivier Faure.

Regarding the leader of La France Insoumise, the Seine-Saint-Denis representative believes "he is limited to 22%." "This is his third election, he has never made it past the first round," he laments, calling for "an alternative candidacy to that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon." And too bad if there are "at least" two left-wing candidates for the Élysée.

Karim Bouamrane has once again attacked the First Secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure , saying that "he is too closely associated with Jean-Luc Mélenchon."

"There is a path if he stands by us, but there can no longer be a path for the reconstruction of the left with Olivier Faure," believes Karim Bouamrane.

The mayor of Saint-Ouen, a town of just over 50,000 inhabitants, nevertheless welcomes the socialist leader's "sincere fight" against the National Rally but believes "we must unite."

"He has real principles, I would never allow myself to put him on trial for that," he acknowledged on our channel, but deplores "that today, there is a completely orphaned electorate who say to themselves 'I want a France where I feel protected and I have hope'."

On several occasions in recent months, Karim Bouamrane has criticized the Socialist Party leadership, deeming, for example, that it is "not at all in step with the challenges of the 21st century." In mid-March, he called on Sud Radio for the formation of "a new team that does not repeat, that does not reapply the same policies as Olivier Faure."

Mayor of Saint-Ouen since 2020, Karim Bouamrane has never held a single national office. The Seine-Saint-Denis representative was thrust into the spotlight in the spring of 2024 when his name was mentioned as a candidate for Prime Minister. It was ultimately Michel Barnier who was appointed head of government by Emmanuel Macron.
